The cute little plant in the picture is called Portulaca oleracea (common purslane, also known as little hogweed, or pursley). It grows spontaneously in my windowboxes, and I always thought of it as a pesky weed. Today I discovered that it is actually edible, good to put in salads, and even beneficial as it contains Omega-3 fatty acids.
