I spent about 20 years in corporate, mostly as a language practitioner. Despite loving languages, there is only so much screen time and office politics a person can take in one life time! Gardening has been a lifelong hobby, so I am happy to be here in this space - albeit virtual.
I grew up in South Africa, but now live in Lancashire, in the north-west of England. From a vegetation perspective, I might as well have moved to another planet! However, I'm loving the process of learning about the new flora around me. This island is so lush!
As for permaculture, I did an introductory course in South Africa in 2016, and was hooked instantly. At that time, I was living on a farm and immediately started reshaping my rudimentary wild flower and food garden. It became my pride and joy, and I hope to achieve that here again some time soon. I'm very free range when it comes to my approach, and try to give plants the benefit of the doubt. Plants and creatures run the show as much as possible. I try to just pay useful visits.
If I had to compare myself to a type of garden, I'd have to go with Kenko: "...a carefully untended garden."
